Just few weeks after the announcement of the Miss Liberia beauty pageant to replace the current miss Wokie Dolo, the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism has announced that all preparations in that regard have been suspended. They have said that all those who made preparation to enter into the pageant and spent money regarding that will be reimbursed. Read the Press Release below:
Monrovia, May 27, 2019: Information Minister Eugene Lenn Nagbe has announced the immediate dissolution of the Miss Liberia 2019 Organizing Committee. Minister Nagbe has also suspended all preparatory activities leading up to the hosting of the event.
The annual affair which is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) was due to be hosted later this year.
However, the Minister has said that would-be contestants who incurred expenses as a result of their engagement with the committee – and other stakeholders who made contributions – will be reimbursed.
Minister Nagbe calls on the general public to totally disregard all publication of promotional materials, particularly those bearing the photograph of the President of Liberia, George M. Weah, which he said, “were neither authorized or approved by MICAT”.
