The idea was born many years ago, but came to the public eye about two years ago, when a young Liberian lady, Miss Augustina Kou Monpleh, had this great vision to put an event together that would promote, showcase, and celebrate the Liberian Arts and Culture in its totality. She calls it the Koloqua Festival or THE KOLO FEST.
Augustina is a great lover of her country’s Arts and Culture, as is evidence by the fact that she started the very first entertainment blog in the Liberian Entertainment Industry, the Liberian Stars Views’. She always says whenever she checked the internet for information on Liberian musicians or other artists, she saw nothing. All she saw when she asked Google about her homeland were negativity. Thus, she decided to start showcasing the positives about Liberia, especially where Arts and Culture are concerned. That strong desire gave birth to the Liberian Stars Views’, her entertainment blog.
Years later, she decided to come up with something even more physical, where Liberians, and of course other Nationals, can come together to celebrate the beauty of the Mother land, hence, the Koloqua Festival. The Koloqua Festival is an event that seeks to bring together Liberians from all walks of life to celebrate the beautiful Culture of Liberia, the food, the clothes, the way of life in general. Not only celebrate, her desire is that the young generation or those who do not know, and foreigners, be educated about the Culture of the land. There will actually be a showcase of the Arts and Culture of Liberia by Liberian own Artists, Farmers, Fashion Designers, Painters, there we be cultural and Traditional performances, presentation of natural reserves, and lots more.
The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism, is strongly supporting this event. So you can see da na play.
This event is brought to you by the Liberian Stars Views’, in collaboration with the ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism. It will be taking place at the Providence Island in Monrovia, Liberia on December 20, 2019.
Try and get some Liberian Traditional wear, that is the official attire. If you don’t know where to get some from, then contract Augustina’s own Country Cloth company, Shop.Kou. She will hook you up.
Just in case you are wondering why you should come to the Koloqua Festival, here are the reasons, coming from the host herself:
“It’s the first of its kind, therefore, you should come and experience something new.Why you should come to the Koloqua Festival
