According to the Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs:
“The government of Liberia is aware of the disturbing attack on our national team in Sierra Leone and is therefore working through various channels to ensure the safety of the players and other members of the Liberian delegation. The team is currently securely sheltered at their hotel in Freetown as we assess the situation.
The Liberian government has contacted the appropriate Sierra Leonean officials, while also filing a formal complaint with the football world governing body, FIFA.
Liberians in Sierra Leone, and those accompanying the team, will have to avoid going to the stadium and some public places until otherwise advised to do so.
