Lonestar Cell MTN launches Push and Pull with GT Bank

On the 27th of December 2019, The LoneStar Cell MTN in collaboration with the Guaranty Trust Bank launched the Push and Pull product.

Speaking from MTN, the Head of the Mobile Money Section, Mr. Prince Chesson said, “The push and pull is a system that allows MTN mobile money subscribers to use their phones to execute the following transactions:
1) Transfer money easily from your Mobile Money wallet  to their GT bank accounts ( Push)

2) Transfer money easily from their GT Bank accounts to their Mobile Money wallet (pull)

To gain access to this service, an individual needs to visit any GT Bank branch to link his or her GT account to the LoneStar Cell MTN Mobile Money wallet.

He further pointed out that this product will enable users to also withdraw from their GT account using a Mobile Money account which can be cashed out at any of the Mobile Money agent points in and around the country. Users will be able to see the deposited amount from their mobile money wallet to their GT bank accounts, which can be processed, and they can also initiate a transfer Internationally.
He concluded that ‘this is a digital revolution for the economy’ and that the LoneStar Cell is in full support of the government’s digital financial inclusion strategy.

Speaking from the Guaranty Trust Bank, Mr. Jeremy Yattoh said that the push and pull service will aid in opening the economy as the country is faced with liquidity problems.

How does the push and pull work?

Speaking at the launch, Bobby Lekpyee, the Ecosystem Coordinator from Lonestar Cell MTN made known some basic instructions that are to be followed while withdrawing from your Mobile money wallet or GT bank account.
To withdraw from your GT bank account dial *156# and select option #7  for financial services and follow the various instructions.
