Ministry of Education takes drastic actions against the Soltiamon Christian School

After the brutal flogging of a female student by the Dean of Students and son of the owners of the Soltiamon Christian School, Mr. Solomon Joah, Jr., the Ministry of Education, consistent with its mandate outlined by the Education Reform Act of 2011, has come out with the below actions:

  1. Soltiamon Christian School System should immediately remove Mr. Solomon Joah, Jr. from all instructional activities within their School System.
  2. Soltiamon Christian School is as a result of the action by its staff fined Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$350.000.00) payable into Government revenue with the official revenue receipt submitted to the office of the Deputy Minister for Administration on or before July 5, 2019.
  3. The cost of medical treatment incurred by the parents of the victim be re-funded by the SCSS’ Administration. The receipt of the refund is submitted to the office of the Deputy Minister for Administration as evidence that the refund has been made.
  4. SCSS is requested to submit the following documents to the office of the Deputy Minister for Instruction for approval before August 5, 2019:

a) Student’s Handbook

b) Teachers and Administration’s handbook
